I know what you're thinking. Didn't I just write about summer going on year round in this country? Now I'm blogging about rubber boots. But oh, not just any pair of boots... ok, ok, that's just a little melodramatic. Ahihihi, but then again, it's the tropics. It can rain anytime it wants. Anywhere and at any intensity. Tropical depressions. Typhoons. Rubber/rain boots have always been an essential part of our household. Even when I was small, I had my own boots. And mind you, during the great flood in our town back in 1991, rubber boots was the only way we could go about the streets and buy that precious bread from the bakery 5 blocks away.
With my own family, I still insisted we each have our own rubber boots. The trusty helper and nannies included. Wouldn't it be comforting to have a pair on hand just in case?
Last March this year my friend from the United Kingdom helped me ship my very own pair. Well, I just thought I'd level up on my own pair of rubber boots. And as peking order in this household goes, my senior helper (this only means, she's been with us for a long time hehehe) gets my old pair. My kids are still too very young.
My very own pair of Hunter Wellington Boots. Pricey but very well worth it. What's a girl from the tropics doing with Britain's symbol of country life? ...hmmm, just rockin' it, actually. Ahihihi... oh but it is very useful. It's been raining so very hard lately carrying my kids from the car to the door in 3 inch rain is nothing but a breeze for me. They can walk in their own boots but they love to see mine get wet. Ahihihi...kids!!!

I got myself the original tall in color black. Very very lightweight I tell ya! Fashion definitely meets function!
Real leather (so be very careful in opening that box, cover your nose if you're allergic to strong scents). Waterproof and strong enough to protect you from industrial chemicals. I love my Hunter! And are you ready for this? It is the most comfortable boots Ive ever tried on. Believe me, I've tried on more than a dozen!

An hour after lunch and some more window shopping, we spotted an ice cream truck in the corner. What better to do in the cold than have a cone of cold ice cream, right? hahahaha

The forecast said 14 degC.

It went down to 8 degC coz of the rain. My friend took one look of my red sweater and said, no, that's not gonna cut it out there. So off on a trench I went...

The past days had been crazy. Rainy crazy. Several parts of town were unfortunately flooded. It was freaky. One morning of rain caused so much damage.

We were lucky enough to have been spared by rising waters but we didnt rest on our laurels.

Went about our businesses the past days in our trusty boots.

After the beach wedding we needed to rush home, do some mental double checking, sleep early hugging the kids and wake up at 4am to catch a 6am flight the next day to Manila.

We hitched a ride with our friend, Eric, the man of the hour, up to windy Tagaytay!

She did mention in previous interviews there would be no white wedding gowns for her. I'm guessing nobody expected red actually. But she nailed that creation! The gown was a wedding gift from one of their principal sponsors, Dr. Vicky Belo. Yes, they went to the U.S. for the fitting.

Like a lifetime...the quest for the perfect wear for rain and flood. But no plain red or black rubber boots for me please, thank you very much.

Started many many years ago when my town was hit with the worst flood ever. I discovered walking in them rubber boots took any cares away. Rain had been bad the past years but I still didnt get my own rain boots.

Many many years ago I discovered Wellington Hunter boots. Rubber, practical and fashionable. But alas they were only available abroad. Although some Wellies have found their way in the Philippines but still they don't carry the plain black. Scroll down a few entries of my blog and you will see which style I had been on the hunt for. I didnt find them Wellies.

But I found BAJA!

The word literally means 'flood' in English.

Alas, a locally made rubber boots for them rainy days when you just can't help but go go and go!

Rubber, practical, fashionable and snakeskin. Plus it is locally made. I actually prefer to buy local. It is comfortable! A 100% waterproof!

And it's WEDGE ladies and gentlemen!!!

I do hope more designs will be available soon. We need boots like these. I love that they are locally made. Are we ready for them fab rubber rain boots? Of course we are! And we just simply need them in this tropical weather of ours that have lately been very unpredictable. So ok, it's not all rainy days that you find people in rain boots. But with designs like these, it could just be a matter of time actually. Wouldn't it be cool to be commuting in the city in them boots? Running for the jeepney or taxi would be a breeze. I could also keep these handy in the car just in case the skies decides to give us some major rain. And hey, stepping into them coffeeshops in these snakeskins would just be way too cool!

I love boots. Just because...

Although stilleto heels on boots scare me. Boots would mean I would wear it just about anywhere, anytime and very very often. Therefore, it would be the end of it all if one of them stilletos snap in the middle of a stroll in the mall! So I favor wedges. They are sexy. More safe. hehehe

But alas, that's a Prounza Schouler pair, therefore it's way out of my budget.

Hey, how about some Wellingtons? It's functional, sexy, wedge and...ehem, very functional, in this part of the world. It rains in a snap of a finger. Floods all around the city. Crossing the flooded exit of the mall to the taxi bay would be a breeze. And it's fashionable! Rarely does fashionable and functional appear in the same sentence.

Christmas parties everyone!!!

They're gonna keep comin' and comin' I tell 'ya.

Mine started last night. The event group Christmas party.

The invite said Summer theme.

Well, I went on my summery maxi dress, a denim jacket (it was raining) and...I figured it was a party so I'd wear heels.

Well, dang!!!

What a party!

Ann had this crazy game of basketball. It sounded simple enough at first but got really competitive and uber fun!

Running in a long dress, no problem. Out running the competition in heels was another story!

It was only on the 4th round that most of us girls decided to take it barefooted.

We didn't win but it was crazy FUN!

Lo and behold, I think I pulled a muscle. hehehe. I'm limping a bit but it doesn't hurt that much.

A major big one is happening tomorrow.

I have changed my look since and will be wearing a high enough heeled boots to complete my 80's new wave look.
