Dont sweat the small stuff, they keep saying. To some extent I guess. But yesterday, some people did sweat the small stuff and sure did make my little daughter the happiest.
It was a kiddie party at McDonald's. At that particular branch we have only eaten about twice. At both times Alyssa have asked for spaghetti WITHOUT the sauce. That's her favorite. Maybe 2 months ago. When food was served...guess what Alyssa got? ...her spaghetti WITHOUT the sauce! They remembered! How could they have remembered? Somewhere in that kitchen was a kind hearted crew who cared enough to prepare something different for my daughter. Turned out to be a she. It should be noted that the reason why we do not go to this branch often coz it is always busy (and noisy). But apparently, in the middle of all frenzy and among the sea of kids, the girl crew saw Alyssa and remembered she didnt want any sauce in her spaghetti. She sweated the small stuff. Went out of her way to give my daughter her favorite. No big deal I suppose, in fact, much faster to prepare. Someone, in this so-called fast paced commercial life we live in, someone sweated the small stuff. Simple little gesture that weighted heavily in my little daughter's heart.
Alyssa: "She remembered mommy! She cares for me?"
Me: "Yes dear, she does."
Alyssa:"Wow! She is so kind to me mommy!"
(I smiled and nodded my head. She then happily ate up her spaghetti)
Alyssa: (pauses)..."this is the best spaghetti in the whole entire world!""
She made my daughter happy. And that lighted up my heart. Amidst the busy buzz and business in that kitchen, someone remembered my daughter and took her sweet time to make spaghetti WITHOUT the sauce. And served it during a kiddie party. I thank for gestures like those. I thank for people like those. We thanked her for her kindness, she sure did make Alyssa's day brighter.
Small gesture it might be, but such small gesture always leaves a mark in my heart. Reminds me that the world is okay. Reminds me that strangers are just friends waiting to happen. One act of kindness a day...it brings me back to that. Reminds of the simple pleasures that touch my heart. It reminds me the reason why I smile everyday.
Kinda reminds me that there is hope for the world. Hehehehe! (too much drama)
