The Great Buddha at Ngong Ping 360.
Yep you'd have to take a cable car to reach this part of the city. This one's in Lantau where we stay. A few steps away from the building. Our first ever cable car ride!!! Yeppeeeeeeyyyy!
I believe the kids were kinda freaked out at first watching those little cable cars slowly travel across those cables from one mountain to another. Across a massive body of water! Well, it freaked me out a bit too you know. But it was exciting! Im not sure how many mountains we passed. Joel says about 3 or 4. Where we slow down in them re-gapping areas. And apparently "retouching" areas too (we spied the lady in the car ahead of us meticulously retouching her make up). Hehehehe
It was beautiful!!! I never imagined! And to think I almost voted to forego this part of the trip. Like, you know, big Buddha. Ok. But hey, Im glad I left it to Joel and Pamie to take charge of our itinerary.

It was glorious!!!
Our very first cable car ride! I said that already, no? I'm just too excited telling you guys about it! We didnt go for the crystal car though. Too scary for me seeing nothing under me feet! On a 5.7km bi-cable ropeway! SPECTACULAR!!!
Ngong Ping Village is set on a 1.5 hectare site on Lantau Island, adjacent to Ngong Ping Cable Car Terminal and the Tian Tan Buddha Statue.
It is simply amazing. Ride started from Tung Chung, yep where we stayed, goes over the Tung Chung Bay (breath taking!!!). Different angels, different views! You can see the whole of the Airport Island!
Amazing-ness doesnt stop there as we felt doing a 60-degree turn to North Lantau!
Hey! Is that the South China Sea everyone???!!!
Did I say it was breath taking?
An amazing breath taking 25-minute ride to the clouds. Yes, seriously. We saw a sign they've put up for the day apologizing that it was going to be a foggy day, they apologize for the inconvenience.
Where? The inconvenience, I mean.
I LOVE being wrapped in fog! Literally! It was like a scene from a Hollywood movie. Being swallowed by a white blanket, seeing nothing but white and white and white everywhere!
We LOVE IT!!!
Minutes later you will once again begin to see the cables and some cars coming back.
Glorious, beautiful!

Father and daughter at the Po Lin Temple

At the courtyard outside the temple

I did a jump shot. But I think you guys are better off looking at my kids' jump shot. hahahaha! Arent they cute?

The greatest tour itinerary consultant. HAHAHA

Hmmm...they say...

HAHAHAHAHA!
But when you see Joel doing this...you just have to climb!
Yep, I said, you guys go ahead. There was no way I was doing this.
For one thing I didnt know about this, really. Like I said I never googled the trip. Pamie just said..."I have a surprise up ahead."
Guess I trust her fully coz I didnt suspect any steps of stairs. 268 steps, thank you very much. HAHAHAHAHA!

Yes, I climbed. And I am thankful I did. My kids climbed...ahead of me, of course! They got their ice cream rewards as soon as we got to the top. I got my sugar. Joel? Ever cool one...he went on ahead to enjoy the view! Pamie did the sugar too. Hehehehe

The Tian Tan Buddha Statue. The Great Buddha.
Beautiful wonderful holy!!! It was big!!! The biggest in this part of the globe actually! Fog would come and go. We were loving the cold winds. And the whole place gives you a 360-degree view of Ngong Ping.

Walk with Buddha. A walk to enlightment indeed. What beautiful life I have. Simple, sweet and beautiful. Good friends. Wonderful kids (so okay, kids will be kids at times, you know what I mean..hehehe) and perfect husband. Life is sweet. Nothing complicated. Simple indulgence!
It was only on the way back that I spent a few minutes looking and inhaling the Bodhi Tree in the courtyard.
"Who am I and Why am I here?"
That is the question from a man centuries ago who stood there and started his own path of enlightenment.
And I found myself asking the same question.
The answers may not have come as quickly as I hoped but deep in my heart I believe I know. I believe I am living my purpose.
Being a believer of one religion does not necessarily mean you can not absorb another. I have friends who practice Buddhism. I have gained knowledge from them about their beliefs and values. And they are just as amazing. I took those knowledge with me as I took my journey up to the Great Buddha. Reveling on his story and how he became to be.
I stood there below him in awe.

Thank YOU.
Thank You for the strength.
Thank You for our lives.
