I remember in college when problems of the heart were second nature to any girl living in a dormitory. Drowning my sorrows by banging endlessly on the piano with the new piece I learned (the nuns forced me to learn the piece by the way). I stopped and said to my bestfriend who was unsuccessfully trying to study beside me:
"I wish the world would swallow me."
I still remember her reply clearly (without looking at me --still trying to read her book):
"E luwa ka talaga ng world..."
(The world would spit you out for sure!)
In an instant we burst out laughing. Sorrow ended.
I remember that conversation of two sentences clearly, her name was Donna. I didnt get to see her when I went to Davao. How come? We texted. She was the one who told me to check out Cafe Firenzo that afternoon. I like that place. Hmmm...how come we didnt arrange to meet?
And how come I dont feel like laughing remembering that funny moment now?
The soul has shut down tight.
