SINULOG 2012!!!
'Tis the day of the year that gives everyone and anyone in Cebu a justified reason to do a crazy dance anytime anywhere. Especially in the streets.
Held on the third Sunday of January, it is the festival that celebrates the Filipino's acceptance of Christianity.
History says that Sinulog comes from the Cebuano word "sulog" meaning "like water current movement". Just like the forward-backward movement of the Sinulog dance. At the Basilica de Sto. Nino, you will find old ladies bearing candles offering their prayers with their hands up on the air while dancing forward and backward. Sinulog is a 9-day celebration, with the grand parade on Sunday. Tourists from all over the globe are drawn to this lively celebration.
Having experienced Sinulog for 30 years I say times have definitely changed. More elaborate floats, costumes and more crowd. And photography has taken a life of its own during the celebration. This year I decided to join our group for the photography contest...

Clever. And cool. The lyrics of "Batobalani sa Gugma" on the gown. It is the song sang by the devotees during a novena to the Sto. Nino while waving their hands on the air.

My friend and I, all covered up.

Converging at the start of the parade. It has gotten hot. I believe we are talking about buying ice cream. hehe
