It's almost Christmas!!! Let's talk tradition.
One of the many is the Simbang Gabi or Misa de Gallo (Rooster's Mass), thus it being held during the dawn hours for 9 consecutive days before December 25th.

Times have changed indeed as some big malls have started holding Misa de Gallo in their hallways or entertainment centers. Reason? I don't know, coz these masses usually end even before most of the population wakes up for breakfast. So why not go to the church instead? I do not know.

I am not known to religiously attend Misa de Gallo. Judge me if you want but I just cannot get up that early for 9 consecutive days.

This year, the Archdiocese of Manila proclaims that it no longer allows Misa de Gallo to be held in malls. Except if there are chapels in these malls which regularly hold holy masses.

About time.

Let's talk Sundays. I admit we used to go to a mall to hear mass. That was 6 years ago. On my 4th time I started to feel weird. Why in the mall? It is airconditioned. The time is convenient. And we can go shopping or have lunch right after without going somewhere else. Pretty convenient.

Hmmm...has it really come down to that?

We hear mass in the mall because it's convenient?
It saddens me. The Church do not ask you to come every day. You can come once in a week. 1 day out of the 7. Any day. However, as practicing Catholics it is our holy obligation to attend mass on a Sunday. Still 1 day out of the 7. Would it be too much to ask to go to a church, no matter how far off from your house?
