Another reason for being quiet on the web the past weekend was that the whole family took a quick trip back to the hometown for 80th birthday party of an uncle and auntie. It was a big and yet intimate affair of close friends and relatives. It was like a time warp. The minute I walked into the room (we were late for the mass) I had major goosebumps as I saw family friends who I spent every breathing hour during my childhood.
It brought me back to beach parties every Sundays, Holy Week at the lake, impromptu get togethers on Friday nights!!! Screaming of kids on empty night streets, dancing to 80's music...and shoulder pads. hahahaha...it was a wonderful time warp!!! This family was especially close to me. We are 1st cousins. Neighbors for the longest time. My auntie is my godmother in both baptism and wedding. She knitted me the coolest sweaters in pink and grey.
One time my parents went away on a convention and left me with my uncle and auntie's family for one whole week!!! It was quiet an eye opener for an only child like me, being thrown into a family of SEVEN!!!
And now all the children have their own families, all living away in the U.S. and Australia. But for this occasion, they have all come home.
