And today was race day!
The Looney Tune Run at SM North. Start time was 7am. By 5.30am, Alyssa was up, way ahead of the rest of us.
She was quiet. Too quiet. If you know Alyssa she is never ever quiet. Except when she's scared or shy.

To every question I'd ask her, she'd just give me a 'yes' or 'no'. Now that made me nervous too. Normally, it would be a sign she's nervous. Which means she will sometimes refuse to move. But then again as time went by if there's one important thing I've learned about kids, Alyssa in particular, is NEVER to second guess her.

It was hot!!! We met a lot of good friends whose kids were also running.

And off they goooooooooooo!!!
That's Noy, remember him in one of my earlier entries? Philippine's own Ironman!
The Mastermind.
Joel planned to run along side Alyssa. Apparently things go crazy in a kids race...parents go crazier! HAHAHAHAH! At least I did. Never have I shouted, laughed and cheered all at the same ever so loudly! hehehe...
Then I remembered I had my camera. hahahaha

There goes my little munchkin in pink shorts.

Oh don't she just look so precious in her running shoes? hehehehe. Is that my little girl competing?
And she was smiling all the way. That really made me nervous. She seemed to be relaxing. hahahahaha. But then again, we did tell her to just have fun. No pressure. Apparently pressure was on ME. HAHAHAHAHAHA

I cut across to get to the finish. Propped myself on a very good spot to take photos of Alyssa when she crosses. Then I saw Mikele. YEY MIKELE!!! Noy and Amale's little girl. She came in FIRST!!!
...then I saw JOEL coming right behind Mikele, I mean, really close close behind...
which could only have meant one thing...

ALYSSA CAME IN SECOND!!!

Ladies and gentlemen, we have a RUNNER!!!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
HURRAY ALYSSA!

First placer, Mikele, with proud parents Noy and Amale.

So okay, we may have made her 2-week training and nutrition a little by-the-book scientific...(might as well, right?) but we told her to take it easy, have fun. Winning doesn't matter. As long as she did her best and had fun. She did have fun! And she won! And on top of that this is the champ's statement:

"I'm glad Mikele won first prize, mama...coz Im her fan."
Awwwwww...

Thank YOU.
Thank YOU for good health. A safe run.
Thank YOU for very good weather.
Thank YOU for the bonus of winning.
Thank YOU for strength.
Thank YOU for the blessings.
