Nothing there.

Nothing here either. The precious real estate above our tv table/stand. Hehehehe.
Obviously, yesterday, being a non-working holiday in this part of the country was errand day for us. The whole family spent a leisurely relaxed errand day. We'd be going out of town this weekend and it was decided that we'd put the cpu, tv and car in their respective service centers for whatever clean up they needed. In this day and age of tv and internet, it is surprising how my kids readily accepted the fact that there will be no quick googling of anything they are curious about, no photo editing, no Disney Channel or National Geographic for more than 72 hours for them. When we reached the house by dinner time, the area under the computer table and that on the tv stand were already free of any dust. It indeed felt very different. Even backwards than the memories I have during the 1970s when there were only 3 channels to switch back and forth to...where signing off of stations meant the end of one's day. I expected a raunchy, noisy night of complaints, imaginary aches and pains from my girls as a result of the absence of technology in the house. But by 9pm, we were all talking on the bed about what fun we had at the mall that morning. I found myself thinking "It's actually nice to be without the tv and computer right now." You know, the kind of situation wherein you actually cannot go to one even if you need to, even for a second ---because there is NONE. Conversation is more "4-way". More relaxed, more focused. We are able to face one another, talk to and about each one of us.
No distractions. Just me, Joel, my 3 and 6-year old daughters...talking, laughing, smiling --makes sense.
No matter how much I would want to be "family focused" -- oriented, so to speak, it just cannot be helped that I get out of touch of what it's all about. Especially when truth is that we need to work to sustain financially. Even with the most scientific time management, occasions like these are just very rare.
