Our mostestbestest deliciousest friend finally comes to town!!! About time! And they had to put their shop 2 blocks away from our house. Huhuhu I could just cry...We thank our lucky stars! Coffeebean and Tea Leaf officially opens at I.T. Park, Cebu. Tssssaaaaraaaannnnggg! Clap! clap! clap! I forgot what we were celebrating that night but we were dressed up . Even our 7-month-old daughter was dressed in her frou-frou. Hmmm...we had dinner. Our excuse to have coffee right after.
This was only about our 6th trip to CBTL that week. We were meeting our friend, Pamie. We do these random coffee dates several days during the week and it was a no-brainer choice. CBTL it would always be. Alyssa, our 4 yr. old, brought along her mega sketcher that night. That oughtto keep her busy the whole night, we figured. By now, she would be known all the crew, who would automatically seduce her to buy the choco banana muffin. (And I'd get my black forest ice blended YUMMY!!!)
There were about 10 or 12 people, both adults and kids, at the table beside us. Soon enough Alyssa was talking to the nice lady seated next to me. Their conversation spanned from hotdogs to boyfriends, planets of the solar system and drawing. And drew she did. She drew sharks, kids, girls, boys, lizards, house.... Soon the others joined in till they actually got Alyssa to sing some songs. And my pretty little munchkin sang alright. With actions, mind you. Pamie, by the way, had ordered her 2nd sandwich for dinner. She got hungry listening and watching Alyssa. JOel, was laughing at our girl that I got away with ordering a slice of Cookies and Cream cake! (It was a week day, no cakes on weekdays, only coffee. We get cake only either during Saturday or Sunday). Alyssa "entertained" the whole group of 10 (or 12) for about more than an hour! Pamie had whispered to me that we oughtto ask P500 per group of 5 each time Alyssa does a show. Next time, I agreed. KACHING! KACHING! Hmmm, I thought aloud, showbiz future seems so bright. She would be famous, we would be millionaires. Then we could afford our own CBTL counter...just outside our own home theater...in our basement. Harharharhar. We broke out laughing. Alyssa sang and danced tv themes, nursery rhymes and the likes. By the time she was done, I had finished JOel's plate of cheesecake and had hijacked his coffee. Whatta night. That was the only night that Alyssa didn't get to greet and talk with her crew friends. She didn't get to bug them friendly baristas.
Just some thoughts about our own home theater and CBTL counter. We wouldn't have to get dressed, get on the car and go go go anywhere. Best friend is already in the house. Then Alyssa wouldn't be able to say loudly, "Hi friends" to the baristas. They wouldn't be able to simultaneously greet her "Hi Alyssa" when she comes running inside the shop. Then we wouldn't be able to spend some time at the counter pondering what coffee to order only to ask for my fave Black Forest ice blended! Or ogle at the tempting cakes on display. Or stare at the Toby Mcquire poster on the wall... no more of those. That's no fun.
Ok ok ok...NO home theater and own CBTL counter in our basement. WAIT! Ok, will make the home theater in our basement...THEEENNNNN...get dressed, get in the car and go go go to I.T. Park for our much needed CBTL fix, say hi to the baristas, say 'gotta go', then back to our own home theater in our basement. There. That's a better plan, you think?
